The Inter Station

The Intern Station is a Shoot Em Up built in Unity in which you play a space marine who must regain control of the intergalactic space station. The player can control the gravity of his suit at will, which allows him to access paths inaccessible to others as well as perform tactics based on the manipulation of gravity. Project created through the concept of “gravity”.

Engine: Unity
Platform: PC
Role: Game designer and programmer
Team: Rafael Del Río (3D artist)

My contribution to the project

Game designer and programmer

  • Designed the main mechanics of the experience, with a focus on combat.
  • Developed and implemented the game systems including gravity changing, shooting mechanics.

Postmortem of the project

What went well

  • We were able to complete the project within the university’s time limits.
  • We were able to complete our first 3D game.

What went wrong

  • As a university project, we had several responsibilities alongside it. This consumed time meant for polishing and addressing other unfinished tasks.
  • Without much knowledge of Unity physics and Raycast, the game mechanics did not work correctly in all cases.

What I learned

  • Learned the value of iterative testing, as ideas may seem promising hypothetically but require prototyping to determine their feasibility and effectiveness.
  • As a programmer, I learned a lot about Unity 3D.
